Following Tuesday night’s Champions League victory, Bayern’s most well-known acquisition in almost a decade appeared a little reserved in front of the cameras.
Sadio Mané, a recent addition to Bayern, hasn’t netted a league goal since Game 3. The Senegalese superstar wasn’t even included in the starting XI for Bayern’s most recent league match against VfB Stuttgart on matchday six. He played on the left wing for 70 minutes in Friday night’s 2-0 Champions League victory over FC Barcelona, playing behind a duo of strikers made up of Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala.
Mané was unable to register his name on the scoreboard. In the 40th minute, while attempting to catch a Musiala through-ball, he and Müller collided, creating a somewhat hilarious sight indicative of the striker’s recent downturn. Mané gave his post-game interviewers a weak grin while appearing a little embarrassed about the incident.

“The performance of the team was fantastic today,” Mané said, “I can do much better. I know that.”
Mané stated that playing on the left wing was no difficulty for him. The 30-year-old has spent a lot of time there, representing both the Senegalese national team and former club Liverpool F.C. Mané was only able to emphasize this and briefly mention how he was looking forward to new opportunities as the season progressed.
“Nagelsmann said of his €32 million acquisition, “We’re very happy to have him. He is a newcomer who, of course, still has to get into some grooves. He will have an effect on how we play.”
