Antoine Griezmann has recently gained attention in Barcelona-related circles, in large part because of the treatment he is receiving from Atletico Madrid.
The French player is currently on loan to Atletico Madrid until the conclusion of the 2022โ23 campaign. The capital club must sign the attacker for a total of โฌ40 million the next season if the player plays in 50% of the available games.
The fact that matches only count if Griezmann plays 45 minutes or more in a specific game exposes a contract flaw. Because they haven’t given him more than 30 minutes of action in each of the first four league games, Atletico Madrid has been fully exploiting this weakness.

In light of the Spanish club’s stance, Barcelona’s legal team has been researching whether Atletico Madrid is violating the rules by essentially preventing Griezmann from gaining more playing time in an effort to avoid the transfer costs.
The player had agreed to such a scenario when Atletico Madrid first sealed the deal with FC Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo. There is no chance that Atletico Madrid is in violation of the law.
Furthermore, according to the Spanish Workers’ Statute, Atleti is not in violation of any rules because Griezmann is not in a position to demand playing time from the club. The law permits every employee to request an equivalent position that was specified in the employment contract.
Griezmann’s engagement in this situation, however, leads to his registration with the Atletico Madrid team and the Social Security, pay, and contributions the group makes to the player.
Griezmann’s contract only stipulates that he must continue training alongside the rest of the team under customary working circumstances, so Los Rojiblancos are even permitted to forgo providing him with any season-long playing time.
Barcelona can’t change this situation because of this, and the Catalans are in a precarious situation where they might have to either lower their asking price for Griezmann or bring the Frenchman back to Camp Nou.
