Sule Alao Malaika received his primary education at Oyewole Primary School and later completed his secondary education at Yewa High School in Lagos. He did not continue his study after finishing secondary school.

Malaika began playing and performing music at a young age in a Quranic school in Agege, a Lagos suburb.
Before joining his first Fuji band in 1983, he paid his dues by playing Were (early morning Islamic wake-up music during the Ramadan season).
His song has been sampled by several musicians in the Fuji and hip hop scenes, and it has become a hit with music fans.
