After the loss of her husband 35 years ago, veteran actress Idowu Phillips, nicknamed Iya Rainbow, has remained alone. The actress stated that she was no longer interested in getting married to anyone.
“Over my dead body, I’d get married again,” she said. My husband used a padlock to close (my heart), and he took the key with him. I don’t have much faith in men these days. One said he wanted to marry me, but when he saw all of my children, he hurried away.
I’ve lost track of how to desire a man. I hadn’t considered it with five children to look after. I used to be able to go to four different venues in one day to tell you how hard I worked to provide for my children.”

“I can never forget the day my spouse died in 1984,” she added, recalling her late husband’s death. That day, I thought the world was about to end. He was the beginning and end of my life. I used to be a nurse, but it was he who inspired me to pursue a career as an actress. In fact, during his funeral, I told people to bury all of our children with him since I didn’t want them back. I couldn’t take the shock any longer. At the age of 42, imagine becoming a widow.”
Despite being a nurse, Iya Rainbow expressed her disappointment at not being able to save her ex-husband from death’s frigid grasp. “I took him to numerous hospitals, including the General Hospital in Lagos,” she claimed. I was a hospital employee at the time, and I transported him there right away, where he was treated. To be honest, the doctors did their best, but God ultimately decided. When a person arrives at his or her bus stop, he or she must exit the vehicle. He passed away in Ibadan’s University College Hospital.”
Many people pledged to support the family immediately following her husband’s death, but the bulk of them failed to do so, according to the experienced actress. “There were a lot of promises, but many of them didn’t follow through after a short period. “After the ceremony in Awe, Oyo State, many people turned their backs on us,” she claimed.
“I have had a better life since I stopped active acting,” Iya Rainbow said of how she was able to support her family after leaving the make-believe world for the pulpit. I’ve accomplished a lot of things now that I couldn’t do as a full-time actress.”
