On social media, the discovery has aroused mixed reactions, with some calling it a miracle. However, this isn’t the first time such news has become popular, and it’s quite OK to believe in the strange. Someone rising after being proclaimed dead, on the other hand, has a scientific reason.

The medical condition known as “Lazarus Syndrome” exists. After a person has been proclaimed dead, it refers to the spontaneous restoration of blood circulation or cardiac rhythm. The illness was called after Lazarus after the story of his resurrection.

A person suffering from Lazarus Syndrome never died fully, but rather had a brief halt in blood circulation or cardiac activity. Although CPR is the most successful means of recovering a victim, Lazarus Syndrome can sometimes resolve on its own after a failed CPR attempt.

However, there is no set period for Lazarus Syndrome to develop, but it can happen in as little as 10 minutes, according to a 2020 scientific review. According to Iyabo Oko’s daughter, her mother started moving after three hours, which could indicate non-cardiac activity throughout that time.

Recall that legendary actress Kudirat Odukanmi Oluyemi, better known as Iyabo Oko, was diagnosed with an ischemic stroke before her death was announced late last night, according to numerous reports. However, things changed for the better when her daughter, Bisi Aisha, refuted the devastating news and disclosed that her mother had moved after being pronounced dead.

Nonetheless, hearing that Iyabo Oko has escaped death is encouraging, especially given the fact that Nollywood recently lost one of its own, Sam Obiago, just two weeks ago.
