Former Manchester United assistant coach Rene Hake has claimed that Erik ten Hag had no direct involvement in signing players for the club.
Hake, who previously managed Go Ahead Eagles before joining Manchester United as Ten Hag’s assistant, made the statement while discussing the support provided to the Dutch manager at Old Trafford.
In an interview with Voetbal International, Hake expressed his disappointment over their dismissal and addressed misconceptions about Ten Hag’s role in player transfers.

“It is often said and written that Erik spent that money and brought in those players. But that doesn’t make sense,” Hake stated.
“Manchester United has a scouting team of around 40 people. Erik did not handle transfers alone, and you can see now that players like Martínez, De Ligt, Onana, and Mazraoui are simply regular players. They are good footballers, but that has nothing to do with an Ajax past.”
