Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that midfielder Romeo Lavia will be unavailable for their Boxing Day fixture against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Maresca provided an update on Laviaโ€™s recovery process. The 19-year-old is still working his way back from injury and, despite showing significant improvement, is not yet match-fit.

“Romeo is still recovering. He’s much, much better,” Maresca said. “He’s already working on the pitch but unfortunately, he’s not ready for Fulham. Itโ€™s the same situation for some of the others.”

Lavia also missed Chelseaโ€™s goalless draw against Everton last weekend as the Blues contend with an ongoing injury crisis. Several key players remain sidelined, with the clubโ€™s medical team striving to accelerate their recovery ahead of the hectic festive schedule.

Despite these challenges, Chelsea will look to put in a strong performance in Laviaโ€™s absence as they aim to maintain their momentum in the Premier League.

The Boxing Day encounter promises to be a tough test, with Fulham also eager to secure vital points during the crowded holiday fixture list. Chelsea fans will hope for a positive result as their team navigates this crucial period.
