Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for “many weeks” following the hamstring injury he sustained during the club’s 5-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Saka, who has already registered ten Premier League assists this season, was forced off just 24 minutes into the match, causing concern among Arsenal fans and staff alike. Arteta initially described himself as “pretty worried” about the injury, and Saka was later seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches. After further tests, Arteta provided a grim update on Monday.
“It’s not looking good,” the Arsenal boss admitted. “He’s going to be out for many weeks. At this level, injuries are inevitable. Unfortunately, this one is bad, though it could have been worse—something that might keep him out for a year.”

With Arsenal set to play 11 matches in the next six weeks across the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup, Saka could miss key fixtures. This includes a Premier League clash with Ipswich Town on 27 December, the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle United, an FA Cup tie against Manchester United, the north London derby versus Tottenham Hotspur, two Champions League matches, and a critical Premier League encounter with Manchester City.
If Saka’s recovery leans toward the shorter end of the timeline, he could return in late January and potentially be available for the match against City on 2 February.
