Liverpool are reportedly ‘determined’ to sign Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Kubo, who joined Real Madrid in 2019, struggled to establish himself at the Santiago Bernabéu and was loaned out several times before making a permanent move to Real Sociedad a couple of years ago. Since arriving at the Reale Arena, the 23-year-old has impressed in La Liga, becoming a key player in Imanol Alguacil’s starting lineup.
With Mohamed Salah’s contract set to expire at the end of this season, Liverpool are reportedly looking for a right-sided attacker to potentially replace the Egyptian star. Having been impressed by Kubo’s performances in Spain, the Reds have registered interest in the Japanese international. However, Real Sociedad have no intention of parting ways with him.

Despite this, Fichajes states that Liverpool are ‘determined’ to land Kubo and are prepared to do everything they can to secure a deal. Kubo, eager to join a club of Liverpool’s stature, could be open to a move if presented with a convincing offer.
The Japanese winger still has over four and a half years remaining on his current contract, which includes a £50m release clause.
Kubo is known for his technical ability, quickness, dribbling skills, vision to play through passes, and work rate off the ball. He has the potential to develop into a top-tier attacker. However, there are concerns about his physicality, as his relatively slight build could be a challenge in the more physical Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will make a formal move for Kubo in the coming months to strengthen their attack.
Meanwhile, following a comfortable 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, Liverpool have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.
