Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag did not want the club to sign Joshua Zirkzee this summer. The Dutch forward was one of the players brought in during the off-season under INEOS ownership.

The 22-year-old forward scored on his debut against Fulham but has struggled to make an impact since, failing to find the net in subsequent matches. Ten Hag’s patience quickly wore thin, with sources reporting that he felt Zirkzee was not ready for the demands of the Premier League.
