Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes his team should have secured a win over Liverpool in their Premier League match on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah’s late goal rescued a point for Liverpool at the Emirates after Bukayo Saka initially put Arsenal ahead with a superb finish. Virgil van Dijk equalized with a header, but Arsenal regained the lead before halftime through Mikel Merino’s first goal for the club.

“Really disappointing not to win because, when you look at the chances, we should have won the game,” Arteta commented.

“The team played very well—we were dominant, determined, and aggressive, creating big chances in the right areas. But we left ourselves open in transition for the second goal. Against a team like this, you can’t do that if you want to win.

“It is what it is for now. Our backline is completely different from what we’re used to. But we should have won the game.”
