Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that Kylian Mbappe used the international break to transform into “a different player” compared to the one who struggled during his initial months in Spain.

Overall, Madrid has had a disappointing start to the year, and Mbappe’s performances have played a role in that struggle. While he has scored seven goals in 11 matches, three of those came from penalties, leading to questions about whether his presence has positively impacted the team.

As Madrid prepares to face Celta Vigo on Saturday, Ancelotti emphasized that fitness issues were behind Mbappe’s slow start and that fans can expect to see an improved version of the forward moving forward.

“He has taken advantage of the break to improve his condition,” Ancelotti said. “He is very well, happy, and eager to return tomorrow and make an impact for the team. These 15 days have helped him a lot, allowing him to recover from his injuries. Kylian Mbappe is a different player now compared to before the break.

“Tactically, his position remains the same as in recent games. While his left wing role may vary with Vinicius, our focus has been on physical training. This break has been beneficial for him, and he looks excellent.”

Mbappe did not join the France squad for the latest international break due to fitness concerns. Instead, he faced criticism for a trip to a Swedish nightclub, where local media linked him to an investigation regarding an alleged sexual assault. Both Mbappe and his lawyers have vehemently denied any involvement in the allegations.

“I’m not here to comment on speculation; I pay no attention to external talk,” Ancelotti stated regarding the rumors. “I focus on the work he does.

“I talk to the players every day. I can’t address what I’ve said before, as that would be speculation. I don’t see him affected at all; he’s showing great enthusiasm to contribute to the team. He’s close to being at 100%. It’s very encouraging. It’s a pleasure to watch him train.”
