Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Vinicius Junior for his selflessness after the Brazilian, who is typically the team’s primary penalty taker, allowed Kylian Mbappe to take a penalty against Real Betis on Sunday night.

Mbappe’s two goals helped secure a 2-0 victory for Ancelotti’s side at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Mbappe was never pressured to score; he played well, and his performance in the box was impressive,” Ancelotti said. “Vini Jr. was very unselfish by allowing Mbappe to take the penalty. All three—Vini, Mbappe, and Rodrygo—have a good relationship.”

He continued, “While scoring is important for Mbappe, our focus is on evaluating the team’s overall performance, which was an improvement from the previous game.”
