Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his satisfaction with Nicolas Jackson as the team’s current striker, even as the club explores options to bring in a more established forward like Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea is looking to bolster their attacking lineup before the summer transfer window closes and is reportedly targeting either Osimhen or Ivan Toney. Jackson, an Ivory Coast international, has not fully met expectations since joining the Blues last summer.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s UEFA Europa Conference League play-off second-leg match against Servette on Thursday, Maresca, the former Leicester City manager, reaffirmed his confidence in Jackson. When asked about the club’s interest in Osimhen and Toney, he told Football.London, “I didn’t speak to Nicolas about this. I had a meeting with Nicolas yesterday but just about the number of good things he is doing with us.

“I don’t think Nicolas needs a chat. He is our No. 9, our striker at this moment. We are very happy with him.”
