“I dedicate this decision to the youth of today, those who are now 10, 12, or 15 years old. Poland is committed to bidding for the Olympic Games,” Tusk stated during a press conference.

He added, “Given the current decisions, commitments, and preliminary statements from the International Olympic Committee, a realistic timeline for hosting would be 2040 or 2044.”

This announcement comes after Poland’s conservative president, Andrzej Duda, declared last year his intention to submit a bid for the 2036 Summer Olympics.

Poland has never hosted the Olympic Games before. However, it co-hosted the European Football Championship with Ukraine in 2012 and held the European Games in 2023.

Berlin is also considering a bid for the 2040 Olympics.
