Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has disclosed that he and former teammate Didier Drogba are actively working to persuade Victor Osimhen to join Chelsea.
Osimhen’s desire to leave Napoli this summer is well known, and while Napoli is willing to sell, the high release clause has deterred potential suitors. Chelsea, who had previously shown less interest, are now back in the race for the Nigerian striker after their move for Omorodion fell through. They still need to meet Napoli’s asking price and address Osimhen’s wage demands.
Mikel has revealed that he and Drogba are playing a significant role in trying to convince Osimhen to move to Stamford Bridge. In a video circulating online, Mikel highlighted that Osimhen’s talent fits Chelsea’s needs perfectly.

“We’re looking for someone who can finish and score goals, like Erling Haaland,” Mikel said. “Victor Osimhen would bring exactly that to Chelsea.”
He added that both he and Drogba, who is one of Osimhen’s idols, are urging the striker to consider Chelsea. Mikel emphasized, “I hope Chelsea fans will see him join the club. I’m constantly messaging and calling him to make sure Chelsea is his top priority. Didier is also sharing his views on what the club means to us. We all want Victor to come to Chelsea. If we can match the transfer fee and secure him, it would be fantastic.”
Meanwhile, Osimhen is facing possible repercussions from Napoli after an altercation with a fan who recorded the incident.
