Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that Jack Grealish is an injury doubt for their Premier League opener against Chelsea.

Grealish sustained a knock during training ahead of the Community Shield match against Manchester United and was left out of the squad for the game at Wembley.

“He’s had discomfort for two days, especially on Friday, and wasn’t feeling good,” Guardiola explained. “I don’t think it’s a serious issue, but we didn’t want to take any risks. It’s unfortunate because he was in good rhythm and playing aggressively.

“Maybe he’ll be ready for Chelsea, or if not, I’m confident he’ll be available against Ipswich Town. If he were to get injured now, it could mean three weeks or even a month out,” Grealish said.

In his absence, Jeremy Doku and new £33 million signing Savinho are likely to compete for the left-wing position.
