Real Madrid’s new signing, Kylian Mbappe, is set to receive a new jersey number for his debut season with the club. According to The Mirror, the French star will inherit the prestigious No. 9 shirt at Los Blancos, a number previously worn by legends such as Alfredo Di Stefano, Ronaldo Nazario, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema. Mbappe will fill the vacancy left by Benzema’s departure from the Bernabeu in 2023.
The 25-year-old has previously worn various numbers during his career, including 11, 29, 13, 33, and 39 at Monaco, and 7, 14, 17, and 29 at PSG. Internationally, he has worn the No. 10 shirt for France since the 2017-18 season, having previously sported numbers 12 and 20.
Real Madrid has announced that Mbappe will be officially presented as a player for the club the week following France’s elimination from Euro 2024. The high-profile signing joined on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, signing a five-year contract with the Spanish giants.

In addition to Mbappe’s arrival, Real Madrid has made several other jersey number changes. Eduardo Camavinga will take over the No. 6 shirt following Nacho Fernandez’s departure, while Federico Valverde will wear the No. 8, previously worn by Toni Kroos, after Euro 2024.
Aurelian Tchouameni, who replaces Joselu, will wear the No. 14 jersey. Meanwhile, Jesus Vallejo moves to Tchouameni’s former No. 18 shirt, and Arda Guler switches from No. 24 to No. 15 after an impressive season.
