While speaking to his congregation at the Redemption Camp on September 2, 2021, Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, revealed how he committed a prideful error and suffered as a result of it, as God stopped speaking to him for a period of time.
“Almost immediately after I was born again, God began speaking to me; I don’t do anything without his advice or approval,” says Pastor E.A Adeboye. He informs me which road to take in Lagos so that I can avoid the traffic jams; most of you here are familiar with how bad Lagos traffic is. Fortunately, I don’t have to deal with it since God knows a better way.

“However, something happened that caused him to cease contacting me. I used to work as an interpreter for the general overseer, or general superintendent as we used to refer to him back then. My heavenly father then took a keen interest in my interpretation. When other pastors in the church realized how much the general overseer enjoyed my interpretation, they stopped calling me to interpret for them and left me to the general overseer alone.
“I stood up and interpreted for him, but I was grumbling in my head, saying, ‘How could you call me a whole interpreter to the general overseer to interpret for you?’ He would have contacted someone else to interpret that day if he had known what was on my mind.
“As I was driving home at the end of the event, God came to me and said, ‘Son, you are now too big to translate to a man of God other than the general overseer.’ God stopped speaking to me after that conversation, and I never heard His voice again.
“I suffered, that whole period was like hell, I became a victim of the traffic in Lagos.”
