Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles forward, has been honored as the ‘Best African International Footballer’ at the Ghana Football Awards. Lookman received this accolade in recognition of his outstanding performances for Nigeria during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire and with his Serie A club, Atalanta.
During the tournament, the 27-year-old scored three goals in seven games, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s second-place finish. He also played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League campaign, notably scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
Throughout the season, Lookman amassed a total of 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions for Atalanta under the guidance of manager Gian Piero Gasperini. His achievements saw him edge out his international teammate Victor Osimhen and Burkinabe star Edmund Tapsoba for the prestigious award.
