Manchester United has reportedly made initial contact with Xavi in the wake of his unexpected departure from Barcelona. Just one month after reversing his decision to step down, Xavi saw his contract terminated due to a disagreement with president Joan Laporta over the club’s transfer strategy. Hansi Flick has since been unveiled as his replacement.

Xavi has expressed his intention to take a break from management before considering his next move. However, according to AS, Manchester United has already approached him.

It’s been reported that there was an informal discussion with Xavi to gauge his interest, but the former midfielder clarified that he plans to take a year-long break from football.

Xavi has reportedly declined approaches from AC Milan and the South Korean national team, as well as rejecting an offer from Ajax earlier this year. He is unlikely to return to manage in La Liga to avoid competing directly with Barcelona, which could pave the way for a move to the Premier League.

Paris Saint-Germain, backed by the same Qatari owners Xavi was close to during his time with Al Sadd, is also mentioned as a potential future destination.

Regarding Manchester United, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will make a decision on Ten Hag’s future in the coming weeks. Reports suggest that potential replacements have been informed that there is currently no guarantee of parting ways with the Dutchman.
