Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has secured a landslide victory in the presidential election of Porto.
The 46-year-old, who has been without a club since his time at Marseille in February 2021, triumphantly returns to his former club after winning an overwhelming 80.3% of the vote. This victory ends the 42-year reign of the incumbent, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.
Sporting a Porto shirt and scarf, Villas-Boas celebrated with his supporters outside his campaign headquarters, declaring, “Porto is free again.” Expressing gratitude and ambition, he stated, “I am very happy, proud, and honored by this opportunity that you give me.”

“I hope to meet the demands of all Porto fans, which is to win titles and secure the future of our club,” Villas-Boas continued, emphasizing the club’s need for strength and resilience in facing future challenges.
Acknowledging his predecessor, Villas-Boas thanked Pinto da Costa for his contributions, stating that Porto would “always be his home.”
Villas-Boas, who became the youngest manager to win a European trophy at 33, led Porto to victory in the Europa League in 2011, along with a domestic Treble.
After managerial roles at Chelsea, Tottenham, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Shanghai SIPG, and Marseille, Villas-Boas returns to his roots at Porto.
