Bayern Munich director Max Eberl has provided an update on the club’s quest for a new manager amid speculation linking them with Zinedine Zidane.

Following the announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s impending departure from the club at the end of the season, Bayern Munich has been exploring various options to fill the managerial vacancy. This search comes after the club lost its 11-year hold on the Bundesliga title, with Bayer Leverkusen clinching the crown with a recent victory over Werder Bremen.

In addition to Nagelsmann, the legendary coach and Ballon d’Or winner Zidane has emerged as a rumored candidate for the Bayern Munich job. Zidane has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid for the second time in 2021.

Providing insight into Bayern’s managerial search, club director Eberl stated to Sky Germany: “I’ve already said that we would ideally have a new coach at the end of April. But if it takes a little longer, then it takes a little longer. I know that time is running out. It is also our intention that we want to do it quickly, but we still want to do it as cleanly and as thoroughly as necessary. We are now very, very final and will hopefully be able to announce something soon.”

When asked about the language preference for the new manager, Eberl mentioned a preference for proficiency in both German and English. However, he remained uncertain whether Zidane meets this criterion.

Bayern Munich isn’t the only club reportedly interested in Zidane’s services. Manchester United and Juventus have also been linked with the French footballing legend, with reports suggesting that Zidane is monitoring the managerial situation at Manchester United as he evaluates his options.
