Kieran Tierney has acknowledged that he hasn’t yet discussed his future with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as he prepares to return from his loan spell with Real Sociedad.
Tierney, who joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019 and established himself as the team’s primary left-back, saw his playing time reduced with the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in 2022. Consequently, he opted for a loan move to La Liga side Real Sociedad last summer after making only one appearance for Arsenal in the previous season.
Reflecting on his time in Spain during a recent interview with talkSPORT, Tierney expressed his appreciation for the experience, noting his regret that it is coming to an end soon. He emphasized the value of gaining game time and regaining confidence, especially after a period of limited playing opportunities.

Despite his impending return to Arsenal, Tierney disclosed that he hasn’t had any discussions with Arteta regarding his role at the club. However, he remains eager to compete for a place in the starting XI, drawing inspiration from William Saliba’s successful return to the Arsenal squad after multiple loan spells in France.
Tierney highlighted the unpredictable nature of football, citing Saliba’s unexpected resurgence as proof that anything can happen in the sport. He remains optimistic about his future but acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding it.
During his loan spell at Real Sociedad, Tierney made significant contributions, earning praise from manager Imanol Alguacil for his performances, particularly in his full debut against Granada and against Real Madrid. However, his progress was hampered by two hamstring injuries, one in September and another in January.
