UEFA’s recent decision allows Manchester United to participate in the Europa League if they secure qualification, despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe remaining the owner at Nice.
Under UEFA’s updated regulations, teams owned by the same individuals are typically prohibited from competing in the same tournaments. This would have potentially barred United from entering the Europa League next season, given their co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s majority stake in Ligue 1’s Nice.
Manchester United, currently occupying sixth place in the Premier League, would secure Europa League qualification if they maintain their position. However, Nice also currently sits in a similar position in their league.

In such a scenario, Nice would have been prioritized for Europa League participation due to their higher standing in their respective league compared to Manchester United’s.
However, according to reports from the Daily Mail, UEFA’s general secretary Theodore Theodoridis attended United’s league match against West Ham on February 4 at Old Trafford. Following the match, Theodoridis reportedly engaged in discussions with the English club, assuring them that the matter would be addressed and resolved.
