Thibaut Courtois, the goalkeeper for Real Madrid, appears poised to sit out the remainder of the season. The Belgian was compelled to exit training on Tuesday due to a fresh knee injury. Marca reports that Courtois departed training visibly upset, and subsequent tests confirmed a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Courtois had already been sidelined for the entire season due to an ACL tear in his left knee sustained back in August. While he managed to avoid a recurrence of that injury, it seems probable that surgery will be necessary to address the meniscus damage.
Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, had anticipated Courtois’s return following the March international break. However, it now appears unlikely that Courtois will return to the field until the 2024/25 season. Andriy Lunin will continue to serve as his replacement in the interim.
