Manchester United will not be granted a discount by Nice if they opt to pursue a summer bid for center-back Jean-Clair Todibo, according to insights from 90min.
Both clubs share the same ownership following INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 28% stake in United. The interest in Todibo predates the takeover.
INEOS’s involvement has sparked speculation that Todibo could move this summer. However, securing a new center-back remains a key priority for United, with sources confirming to 90min that Nice’s current asking price is a cause for concern among Red Devils officials.

Nice is reportedly demanding a fee between €55m and €60m (£47m and £51m) to part ways with Todibo. While this might be more economical compared to other targets like Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, it’s not currently seen as the best value for money.
Branthwaite is deemed a more attractive option, and although his exact asking price is unclear, it’s expected to start at a minimum of £70m. United is yet to finalize their decisions on summer targets.
United isn’t the only club wary of Nice’s demands. Tottenham Hotspur made a move for Todibo in January but withdrew due to the asking price. Most potential suitors believe Todibo should be available for closer to €40m (£34m).
Chelsea has also scouted Todibo but is currently more focused on Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande, who 90min previously revealed as the Blues’ primary defensive target.
Nice’s bargaining position may have weakened since the January transfer window due to their recent poor form, which has seen them drop from second to sixth in Ligue 1, outside the Champions League qualification places.
Todibo faced criticism from some disgruntled Nice supporters on Friday night amidst the club’s poor form. However, he remains focused on finishing the season strongly before assessing his options.
