The Super Eagles’ defender scored in the 37th minute, giving his team an initial lead. However, Jose Peseiro’s squad conceded twice in the second half, resulting in a defeat to the Elephants.

Troost-Ekong’s goal marked his third in the competition, and the 30-year-old now boasts a total of five goals in AFCON finals. Additionally, he was honored with the title of Player of the Tournament.
