The multi-million naira church auditorium of the Household of David church, located on Surulere Street, Adeniyi Jones in the Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, was destroyed by fire, which also completely destroyed the church edifice.
PUNK Metro learned that the event happened on Wednesday at around 10:00 am.
The Lagos State Fire Service spokesperson, Amodu Shakiri, confirmed the event over the phone with our correspondent. He said that the fire started as a result of the church’s auditorium ceiling collapsing due to overheating.

The relevant agencies on the scene, he continued, were the Red Cross, LASAMBUS, LASEMA, and the Alausa and Ikeja Fire Stations of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Shakiri claimed that among the items destroyed in the fire were the church’s furniture and the auditorium.
He stated, “However, the fire was contained to the church’s auditorium, where it originated, protecting nearby properties.” The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the fire stations in Alausa and Ikeja, LASAMBUS, LASEMA, and the Red Cross were the pertinent authorities participating. The church’s belongings and the auditorium were among the properties that the fire destroyed.
Olusola Osunmakinde, the Senior Pastor of Household of David, responded to the tragedy by saying, “It is a painful experience,” in an Instagram video.
Osunmakinde claims that a bystander made fun of him by asking, “Where was Jesus when this happened?”
He claimed that all of the church’s equipment, including seats and air conditioners, had burned.
As everyone is aware, the “Mercy Conference” begins today, but I just wanted to share a word with everyone about something that happened. When I arrived this morning, everyone was getting set up, and everything was running smoothly. Suddenly, there were reports reaching us from the church roof about fire and other issues. I’m aware that there will be responses and comments along these lines.
The most crucial thing is that we are grateful to God for everything and that no lives were lost. Though we are not overly dejected, we still have faith that the conference will go.
“There is no doubt that it was a traumatic event. Someone even made fun of it by asking, “Where was Jesus when this happened?” as they entered the enclosure. We don’t owe anyone an explanation; all we think is that everything is interconnected. By God’s grace, everything works out for the good, so we won’t give up in spite of this.
