In certain areas of Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, there is unease and fear due to the horrific killing of a woman by an unidentified individual.
The woman (name withheld) had lived and farmed in the Uyo area of the state before her untimely death. On Sunday night, she was beheaded near the banking layout, Udo Udoma Avenue.
Her head was severed and found by the side of her body when her lifeless body was discovered on Monday, sources told our correspondent on Tuesday.

An unnamed source said on Tuesday, “We were shocked on Monday morning when we came to work and found the corpse lying close to our entrance.”
The deceased lived on the farm and farmed a plot of land encircling the banking layout, according to a second source.
While confirming the development to journalists on Tuesday, Odiko Macdon, the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, stated that the command has started a manhunt for her killers.
He further stated that Olatoye Durosinmi, the state commissioner of police, had promised to spare no effort in order to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
“Yes, the incident has been reported to the command, and Olatoye Durusimmi, the state commissioner of police, has directed an investigation into it,” he stated.
“The commissioner has sworn that no effort will be spared to find those responsible for this heinous crime.
“We guarantee the people of Akwa Ibom that those responsible for the heinous deed will face consequences.”
