Adeleke continued, saying that when he attempted to get onto a motorcycle, Okunola was struck by a car as he was entering the market to buy some things, instantly killing him and inciting the residents to retaliate violently.

“The said car was coming from Ibadan to Osogbo when the driver lost control due to a mechanical fault,” the statement claimed in part. A teacher in an Odeomu school in the Obada Area was the casualty.

“As the victim tried to get on a motorcycle after purchasing cassava peels at Obada Market, the automobile struck him.

“As soon as they learned the person had died, others in the area set the car on fire. The car’s driver fled the scene, and it is unclear where he is now.

Adeleke stated that the Osun NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Michael Adaralewa, also pleaded with citizens to help law enforcement authorities maintain safe roads in the state by abiding by the law. Adaralewa urged drivers to make sure that traffic regulations are strictly followed.
