According to a report, Tottenham Hotspur has successfully secured an agreement to bring in Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, accompanied by an option to make the deal permanent.
In their quest to reinforce the squad, particularly in the forward position and at center-back, Spurs have been engaged in discussions with Genoa regarding defender Radu Dragusin.
The club’s interest in Werner surfaced on Saturday morning, and as per David Ornstein of The Athletic, a comprehensive agreement is now in place for Tottenham to acquire the services of the German international on an initial loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. The arrangement includes a purchase clause valued between £13 million and £17 million.

Earlier in the week, 90min reported Manchester United’s interest in Werner as part of their pursuit for a forward, with the Red Devils having made an inquiry to Leipzig. However, Werner is now expected to undergo a medical in London and finalize his move to Spurs.
Interestingly, Werner could potentially make his debut for Tottenham against Manchester United when the two teams clash at Old Trafford in the upcoming Premier League fixture next Sunday.
Leipzig recently confirmed Werner’s negotiations with an undisclosed club for a move away, with manager Marco Rose disclosing the player’s desire for more playing time ahead of Germany’s Euro 2024 campaign on home soil.
“He wants to go on loan, we wish him all the best. He needs to play as he wants to go to Euro 2024, and we keep our fingers crossed for him,” Rose stated in an interview with Sky Sports Germany.
Returning to the Premier League after a two-season stint with Chelsea, Werner, who contributed to the Blues’ Champions League victory, is set to don the Tottenham colors. Despite scoring 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea, he faced criticism for occasional wastefulness in front of goal.
Interestingly, Tottenham had initially pursued a move for Werner in 2015 when he was a rising talent at Stuttgart. However, a deal couldn’t be reached, leading to the signing of Son Heung-min from Bayer Leverkusen. Son, still with Spurs, was appointed club captain for the 2023/24 season.
