Thomas Partey will not be part of Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Arsenal midfielder, currently dealing with an injury, will stay with the Premier League side to undergo rehabilitation. The decision was confirmed by Black Stars head coach, Chris Houghton.

Houghton emphasized Arsenal’s cautious approach to managing Partey’s injury, stating, “Arsenal will treat this injury with caution, and so will the player [Partey]. This is a significant injury for him, the most significant injury he’s had.”

He added, “From all the information we’ve been given, the timelines of his recovery and the caution that will be taken, [his recovery] will not meet our timelines for the AFCON.”
