Three stowaways on board a tanker ship called Front Altiers that was headed for Europe were taken into custody by the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft on Wednesday at the Lagos roadstead.
In a statement signed by Sub-Lieutenant H. A. Collins, the NNS Beecroft base information officer, on Friday, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, the commander of the Maritime Component of Operation Awatse and NNS Beecroft, revealed this.
The suspects are Christian Happy, 32, from Delta State; Samuel Abraham, 32, from Edo State; and Ebuka Daniel, 29 years old, from Enugu State.

“Three stowaways attempting to migrate illegally on the tanker vessel Front Altiers at Lagos roadstead, bound for Europe, were successfully intercepted and apprehended under the aegis of Commodore Kolawole Olumide Oguntuga, Commander Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft and Maritime, Component Commander Operation Awatse,” the statement stated.
Based on dependable information, the patrol team carefully removed the stowaways hidden in the ship’s rudder compartment, shielding them from potentially fatal circumstances throughout the lengthy journey.
It was found that the two had boarded for N20,000 and N5,000, respectively, with the help of fisherman. The patrol team’s impressive and quick work guaranteed that help arrived on time, preventing possible security risks brought on by unauthorized entrance.
The stowaways have been turned over to the Nigerian Immigration Service for any appropriate action, Oguntuga continued.
