Tunji Akinosi, the member of the House of Representatives for the Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency, has refuted allegations that he beat a police officer during Saturday’s 2023 Iganmode Day celebration.

In response to a widely shared viral video on the internet, Akinosi claimed that the film was edited and did not accurately depict the events that actually took place at the event.

He claims that the version of events depicted in the widely shared video footage is not only false but also a clumsy attempt by his political rivals to tarnish his name.

“The disrespectful policeman was attached to Senator Yayi and not the Deputy Governor,” the statement stated.

To clear the air, Akinosi did not push the alleged overzealous officer, M. Yusuf, who was impolite and showed a high degree of irresponsibility during the occurrence.

When he rudely inquired as to the identity of the Deputy Governor, Officer M. Yusuf—who purportedly doubles as the leader of Senator Solomon Adeola, alias Yayi’s security team—actually insulted the deputy governor.

The young people at the event were incensed by the officer’s rude behavior. In the course of carrying out his duties, the unruly officer had previously attacked Kola Salako, the Deputy Governor’s aide, and other members of the Deputy Governor’s train.

“Akinosi attempted to bring the policeman to order during their encounter, but the officer’s rudeness, disparaging remarks, and threats to deal with him made it difficult for them to work things out. That’s precisely what happened.

“The purported attack is only a another effort to manipulate the storyline and discredit Akinosi before the next Ogun State political maneuver that is currently taking place behind closed doors.

“The way that various unidentified platforms and individuals posing as journalists publish unsubstantiated news articles in an attempt to damage people’s reputations is getting really concerning.

“Akinosi is a responsible member of the House of Representatives, and he won’t be sidetracked from his efforts to fulfill the promises he made to thousands of his constituents during the campaign.”
