According to the Fact Newspaper it was learned that for over a year and a half, the people and business owners of Surulere Alabi Community, Sapati Ile in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, had been bemoaning the town’s lack of electricity supply.
In a letter of appeal to Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State, Alh. Jimoh Alao, the community’s Magaji, stated that the village, which has 2000 residents and roughly 536 houses, has been dealing with a recurring power outage since the beginning of the year.
“The lack of electricity has significantly impacted our residents’ daily lives, affecting businesses, education, and overall community well-being,” stated the traditional ruler.
The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, or IBEDC, has done nothing to address the complete darkness that a community in the Ilorin West Local Government Area has been living through for the past twelve months, Alao stated. This is quite depressing and sad.

Since it is simple to commit various crimes while there is no light, the blackout has encouraged kidnapping of individuals. The absence of electricity has made thievery more common in the neighborhoods.
“People who use electricity for their businesses find it extremely difficult to transact their businesses, which has paralyzed our economic activities.” In order to prevent society from becoming hopeless, this requires immediate response.
Although the Surulere Alabi community has a reputation for tranquility, the lack of light has turned it into a lawless culture where people enter the community at night without any sort of confrontation. The community head said, “Our state administration and the IBEDC must ensure that proactive measures are implemented before things go out of hand.
