The incident involving a Valuejet Airlines Bombardier CRJ-900LR aircraft with nationality and registration mark 5N-BXR, which happened at Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at approximately 3:32 p.m. (local time), has been investigated by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
Dr. James Odaudu, the director of NSIB’s public affairs and consumer protection division, stated in a statement that the Bureau had been informed of the occurrence and that investigations had begun.
He added that no one was injured when the plane, carrying 62 passengers and 5 crew members, overshot the runway at runway 03 during landing at Port Harcourt International Airport from Lagos.

He said, “Our investigators are already on the scene, and the Bureau has begun the process of identifying the immediate and remote causes of the incident.
Since every passenger and member of the crew was safely evacuated and there was no reported damage to the aircraft, there were no injuries or fatalities.
The Bureau requests that the public and media refrain from conjecturing about the most plausible reasons while also protecting the privacy of persons who are traveling.
