According to information obtained by The PUNCH, a Canadian investigative team is currently in the Federal Capital Territory looking into an incident that happened inside the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria.

On November 6, 2023, there was a fire incident that resulted in two fatalities and two injuries.

After the fire, the commission ceased operations, with the exception of the visa application centers in Lagos and Abuja, which remained operational.

Demilade Kosemani, a member of the commission’s public affairs department, provided our reporter with a statement on Tuesday stating that the investigative team would collaborate with the appropriate Nigerian authorities to complete their assignment.

“A team of technical experts from Canada arrived in Abuja to conduct a formal investigation to determine the factors and conditions that led to the explosion after an explosion in the generator room at the Canadian High Commission in Nigeria on November 6 that left two people dead and two others injured.

It stated, “As per their separate mandates, efforts are being made to coordinate the work of the Canadian investigation team with the pertinent Nigerian authorities.”
