In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Pochettino promptly acknowledged his actions and attributed them to heightened emotions in the midst of a gripping football match:
“I may have exceeded acceptable bounds because my emotions were running high on the touchline. I want to extend my apologies to everyone, including the referee, as I later realized the nature of my reaction. I was genuinely pleased with the game, and the referee was attempting to assist. My intention was to motivate the players to continue their forward momentum, to be bold, recognizing that we were facing an exceptional team.”

Despite his evident frustration at the final whistle, Pochettino is undoubtedly pleased with his team’s performance in the 4-4 draw against Manchester City. The Blues not only held their ground against the 2022/23 treble winners but also secured a well-deserved equalizer in the 94th minute, courtesy of former City player Cole Palmer.
Reflecting on his team’s display, Pochettino expressed immense pride, stating, “I am very proud and so happy. The players deserve recognition because their performance tonight was exceptional. We competed against a team that, in my opinion, is the best in the world.
“Numerous circumstances unfolded during the game that made me very proud because we managed the game exceptionally well. While there are always areas to improve, it’s part of a process. The draw moves Chelsea up to the top half of the table heading into the November international break. The Blues will return to domestic action on November 25 against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
