The recent debt cancellation status on its subscribers’ network has been referenced by mobile telecommunications company MTN as a technical malfunction.
The network provider announced this on Saturday via a tweet on its official X (previously Twitter) account.
The company emphasized that the debt status remained constant and indicated that an unforeseen error in its system resulted in the forgiveness of debt due by its network subscribers.

Recall that while many Netizens expressed joy with the debt elimination, others thought MTN had purposefully wiped their obligations.

Another X user named Too Cute stated that MTN had erased all of the outstanding debt since the company is giving away free stuff to all of its clients nationwide.

In response, MTN posted on its help handle, saying, “Hey, we know that some of our customers’ xtratime debt was paid off. There was a malfunction in the system; the airtime was not cleared.
“Our support team is looking into the matter, and as soon as they have feedback, they will share it. I’m grateful,” it said.
