According to the former governor of Bayelsa State, all candidates in the elections should take every precaution to ensure that the nation’s peace and stability are maintained.

He posted on his X handle, “I urge all electorates and politicians to avoid violence and conduct themselves in a peaceful and lawful manner as citizens of voting age in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States go to the polls for governorship elections tomorrow.”

“Let us abstain from any actions that could endanger the overall security and tranquility of our states and nation.

“A man with good intentions for his people wouldn’t enlist criminals to murder and maim the very people he seeks to lead.”

Let me stress once more that no citizen’s blood is worth the pursuit of ambition. As a result, let us withstand any inducements or temptations that might be used as destructive agents.

According to Jonathan, the nation needs to make sure that elections and other processes for selecting leaders are legitimate, open, equitable, and peaceful if democracy is to last and have an influence.

He called on the security services, the electoral administration organization, and all interested parties to carry out their duties in a professional and patriotic manner both during and after the election.

“Let us work to strengthen the confidence of the people by ensuring that the electoral process is peaceful and transparent. Democracy draws its strength from the people.”

In order for democracy to develop and become durable in the nation, he continued, it is the shared duty of all parties involved to permit peaceful elections for public office.
