Beginning in 2024, the Ballon d’Or ceremony will be a cooperative effort between UEFA and Groupe Amaury, the publishers of France Football and L’Equipe. For a six-season span from 2010, the award was known as the FIFA Ballon d’Or. However, in 2016, FIFA established its own Best Awards.

The most recent Ballon d’Or event, which took place in Paris, witnessed Lionel Messi clinching the men’s award for the eighth time, while Aitana Bonmatí received her first women’s accolade.
