“Starting next year, the Ballon d’Or, football’s most prestigious individual accolade, will be jointly organized by UEFA. This collaboration marks the end of a seven-year hiatus since the partnership between the French organizers of the award and FIFA, the world governing body for football.
Beginning in 2024, the Ballon d’Or ceremony will be a cooperative effort between UEFA and Groupe Amaury, the publishers of France Football and L’Equipe. For a six-season span from 2010, the award was known as the FIFA Ballon d’Or. However, in 2016, FIFA established its own Best Awards.
The most recent Ballon d’Or event, which took place in Paris, witnessed Lionel Messi clinching the men’s award for the eighth time, while Aitana Bonmatí received her first women’s accolade.

In a statement, it was revealed that UEFA will contribute its football expertise, oversee the global commercial rights, and manage the annual awards gala. As part of this agreement, UEFA will discontinue its own player of the year awards, which have historically been presented in August.”
