Mason Mount’s early performances at Manchester United have not escaped criticism, with former Manchester United striker Louis Saha candidly addressing his concerns. Saha pointed out that Mount has been hesitant to “shoulder responsibility” while in possession of the ball since his arrival at the club.

However, Mount’s impact in Manchester has been relatively modest. He has yet to score a goal and has recorded only one assist in eight appearances, with a five-game absence due to a muscle injury further hindering his progress.
United has faced a challenging start to the campaign, characterized by a lack of offensive cutting edge and creativity in midfield. Saha, in particular, has expressed his apprehensions regarding Mason Mount’s contributions, noting that the 24-year-old appears to be reluctant to assume responsibility on the field.
“I’ve seen moments this season where Mason Mount isn’t even asking for the ball. It’s very shocking for me to see a player with that type of quality shying away from taking responsibility,” Saha told reporters.
“He is too good of a player to play like this, to not show a willingness to get the ball and make a difference and it is not on.
“He has so much quality, but at the moment he doesn’t seem to have any faith in himself. He needs to show courage and commitment and I am really unimpressed with Mason Mount at the moment.
“He has lost the keys to create damage to his opponents and to change games from midfield. He’s going whole games where he is barely touching the ball, it’s really strange.”
