Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update regarding the potential transfer of Napoli star Victor Osimhen to Liverpool.
Rumors about Osimhen leaving Naples began after the club posted a video on TikTok that appeared to mock the striker for missing a penalty in a 0-0 draw against Bologna. In response, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, mentioned the possibility of taking legal action against the club for the “unacceptable” video.
Osimhen has not yet extended his contract, which is set to expire in 2025, and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has suggested that he might not do so.

According to Italian journalist Valter Di Maggio, Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing Osimhen next summer, and there are claims that Osimhen and Calenda have reached an agreement with Liverpool, leading the Nigerian star to reconsider staying in Italy.
However, the stumbling block for Liverpool is the asking price, with De Laurentiis reportedly demanding €170 million for the transfer this summer. Whether this valuation has changed in light of recent events remains uncertain.
Liverpool could potentially fund the move by selling Mohamed Salah to Al Ittihad, with Osimhen seen as a possible replacement if Salah decides to depart next summer.
In an update on the situation, Romano revealed on his YouTube channel, “From what I’m told, Victor Osimhen hasn’t reached an agreement with any club, not even with Napoli. There’s no contract extension agreement. Napoli has made a significant contract offer to Osimhen, with a substantial salary, which would be the highest in Napoli’s history, but Osimhen has yet to make a decision.”
Regarding the reports of an agreement with Liverpool, Romano clarified, “Reports of an agreement with Liverpool are not accurate.”
However, Romano did offer some hope for Liverpool fans, saying, “Certainly, Liverpool and several other clubs are closely monitoring the situation of many strikers. But as of now, there’s no agreement or decision in Osimhen’s case.”
