Al Hilal has officially verified that Neymar has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture. Neymar is slated to undergo surgical intervention following a meniscus tear in his left knee.
Al-Hilal’s statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) reads, “Medical evaluations have confirmed Neymar’s knee injury, involving both the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear. Surgery will be performed, followed by a treatment plan to be determined.”
This injury was incurred by the Brazilian forward during his national team’s 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, Neymar, at 30 years old, is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Furthermore, his recovery timeline raises concerns about his availability for the upcoming Copa America in the United States next summer.
