In a recent interview, Graham Potter gave the reasons why he thinks his position as manager of Stamford Bridge is “the hardest in football.”
Chelsea have recently been ousted from both domestic cup competitions, and despite a promising start to his time at the club, they have slipped to 10th place in the English Premier League standings.
Potter attributes this to a number of elements, such as the club’s recent ownership transition, its active transfer market, and the changeover of medical staff, all of which have added to the impression of turmoil that has pervaded the club in recent months.

Potter said that managing a club like Chelsea is difficult because of the leadership changes and the expectations that come with it in an interview conducted before Chelsea’s game against rival Fulham in west London.
“Change is a difficulty in any organization,” he declared. It’s not like a coup has occurred. That’s the way it is. Because things have changed, disappeared, and left, we must deal with the new and rebuild things. I was aware it would be a difficulty and that things would be challenging from a leadership viewpoint.
Even though he acknowledged that losing 10 first-team players posed a huge obstacle, Potter is still committed to helping Chelsea succeed, saying, “I definitely didn’t imagine we’d lose 10 first-team players but that’s where we are at. All I can do is be open and honest with you people, share my viewpoint, and accept criticism if you lose.
