1. 93 Days
The Nigerian film 93 Days is based on the 2014 Ebola outbreak in the country. It focuses on the heroic men and women who risked their lives in Nigeria to keep the Ebola virus at bay.
It is dedicated in particular to Ameyo Adadevoh, a well-known Nigerian physician. For her pivotal role in stopping the virus from spreading across the country.
During the Ebola outbreak, doctors went on strike, which could have ended in a catastrophic health disaster if Ameyo Adadevoh’s efforts had failed.
On August 19, 2014, Adadevoh died in quarantine from the Ebola virus.
2. Issakaba
Issakaba is a true-to-life Nollywood film from the year 2000. The Bakassi lads, a vigilante gang that fought crimes like armed robbery and murder, were known as “Issakaba.”
It’s also based on the struggle against Eddy Nawgu, a well-known and powerful magician who was accused of being a false prophet who aided thieves, committed human sacrifices, and had illegal weaponry in his possession.
The Bakassi kid, like in the film, failed multiple times before finally apprehending the sorcerer.
3. Apaye
Elder Irene Yepayeye Uriah-Dieah, a real-life relative of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, is the subject of the Nollywood film Apaye.
The story centres around the love of a mother. It highlights Yepayeye’s struggle as a single mother of six children to overcome several hurdles.
Despite enormous obstacles, she was able to ensure that her children were moral and lived a happy life.
4. Trials Of Igho
The narrative behind the film Trials of Igho is true. This film was directed by Chris Eneaji.
It tells the story of a man who was imprisoned for assassinating a man who had slept with his wife. He found he had killed the incorrect person when he was freed from prison.
He then determined that this time he would go after the right person, even if it meant spending the rest of his life in prison.
It’s a tragic story that’s been performed out exactly as it happened in real life, which is why the movie never had a happy ending.
5. Oyenusi
Odunlade Adekola stars in the Nollywood film Oyenusi. It tells the story of Ishola Oyenusi, a hardened and infamous Nigerian criminal who terrorised a great number of people in the past.
Oyenusi began his criminal career as a phoney doctor before committing murder, carjacking, and armed robbery.
Because he had been spiritually strengthened, he was tremendously powerful.
He was arrested and imprisoned several times, yet he persisted to flee.
Until he was apprehended and sentenced to death in 1971, this happened on a regular basis.
He and his gang were shot and killed by a firing squad.
