Çaykur Rizespor star Ibrahim Olawoyin has shared his reaction to his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles.
Olawoyin received a late call-up after Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella withdrew from Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic due to personal reasons.
Although the former Rangers player was eager to play for the Super Eagles, he didn’t expect the invitation at this stage.

“It is amazing and I feel great about it. It’s a great privilege for me, which I will cherish for life,” Olawoyin told the Super Eagles media. “I didn’t see it coming, and it came as a surprise for me, but it finally came, and I have been looking forward to it.
“The Super Eagles is different because it’s all-around quality players. They come from everywhere and will make you better.”
Olawoyin scored eight goals and provided three assists for Rizespor during the 2023/24 season.
