Ray Emodi was born on September 4, 1990, in Enugu, Nigeria, however he originally hails from Ogboli-Eke village in Onitsha, Anambra State. He is currently 32 years old. Prior to travelling to Nottingham for his university studies, he completed his elementary and secondary education in Enugu in the country’s southeast. He moved to the UK after his arrival, resided there while pursuing his education, and at age 21 eventually earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Strategic Enterprises.

After completing his degree programme, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, the “city of angels,” to pursue a career in acting, his field of passion. He entered the New York Film Academy LA, where he studied and graduated with a master’s in fine arts (acting) at the age of 24. He wrote and appeared in the 2013 short film God’s Own Villa as an actor before receiving his Film Academy diploma.

His parents, a smart academician father and a very motivated mother, came from a wealthy, Christian-Catholic household with high moral standards and a strong emphasis on education. His mother, Joy Emodi, continued her study throughout her childhood and graduated from law school in 1987. simultaneously managing businesses and raising children. She pushed herself to become a senator at the Anambra North Federal seat on February 20, 2005, after Emmanuel Anosike’s election was declared invalid, despite the male-dominated political milieu.

Alphonsus Obi Igbeke, the ANPP candidate, appealed when she was re-elected in 2007, and after drawn-out procedures, he was proclaimed the victor in 2010. He met and courted his wife Joy when he was a young lecturer and she was a student pursuing her first degree in Geography at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His father, Late Dr. Okey James Emodi (Ph.D.), was a young lecturer.

Later, in 1980, they were wed in London. There is little doubt that his affection and support had a significant role in shaping the person Sen. Joy has become. Despite their wealth, they made sure their kids were raised with good values and discipline. At the age of 77, Dr. Emodi passed away and was buried in September 2020.

Ray Emodi has a brother, Mr. Onyechi Nwachukwu Emodi, two sisters, Mrs. Nneka Emodi-Eze and Mrs. Chibogu Illozue. The actor recalls how the loss of his cousin was a sad and trying time in his life because they were so close. He misses the godly, wise, and kind person that his brother was. His acting career in Nollywood began as soon as he met Mary Remmy Njoku, who saw potential in him and gave him a role in the 2017 film Unfinished Business.
