Fourteen accused vote buys have been taken into custody by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Otueke, Adawari parks in Bayelsa State, and other polling places in Imo and Kogi States.

The arrests were made as a result of intelligence-driven operations that started a few days prior to the current governorship elections in the three states, according to EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale, who made this announcement on Saturday in Abuja.

Oyewale claims that N11,040, 000 (eleven million, forty thousand naira only) in total was recovered from them. This amount was made up of N9,310,00 (nine million, three hundred and ten thousand naira) that was intercepted from suspected vote buyers and sellers in Bayelsa and N1,730, 000 (one million, seven hundred and thirty thousand naira) that was intercepted from suspected electoral fraud suspects throughout Imo State.
